Year 3
There are two Year 3 classes this year. Mr. Taylor teaches full time in 3T with support from Mrs. Wills. Mrs. Wright (Mon-Weds) and Mr. Goble (Thursday and Friday) teach in 3WG and are supported by Mrs. Lacey.
Autumn Term
Year 3 will begin their Key Stage 2 journey with learning designed to inspire ambition. They will read texts such as Stone Age Boy and The Twits, study rocks and soils in science, and explore the Stone Age to Iron Age in history. Maths will focus on number, calculation, and fractions. Pupils will create cave art, cook healthy snacks, and build French vocabulary. PE will include dance and floor movement, and Forest School and Christmas celebrations will help them believe in their abilities and achieve confidently this term.
Year 3
Spring Term
Year 3 will inspire ambition as they explore Ancient Egypt, plants, and the human body. English lessons include The Day the Crayons Quit and There’s a Pharaoh in Our Bath. Maths will cover time, angles, fractions, and statistics. Pupils will sew Egyptian collars in DT, create Egyptian art, and build presentation skills in computing. Their sleepover, Easter service, and games day will help them believe in their abilities and achieve confidently.
Summer Term
This Summer, Year 3 will continue to inspire curiosity as they study light, volcanoes, and the Romans. English includes myths and non-fiction writing, while maths covers money, angles, division, fractions, and time. Pupils will design castles in DT, learn coding and email skills, and explore French vocabulary. The New Barn trip, Sports Day, and swimming will help them believe in themselves and achieve success as they finish Year 3.
